What '60s meant for the world...well, this era meant change in almost everything! Take a look at the following video!
The power of a photo, the power of TV proved in the case of the so called Vietnam girl...
In Greece, people fought for change, for human rights and education, for work and bread. Thousands of Greeks immigrated to find work in the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany and elsewhere. Stelios Kazantzidis sang the drama of immigration and the greek people wept for those who left their country for a better future.
Marinella sang about immigration, too.
It was a decade full of hopes sprang through poverty and war finished only a few years ago. A strange decade, a colourful decade.
Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Chatzidakis, Stavros Ksarchakos shone like sparkling stars and Greece sang the poets' songs through their brilliant music!
Hi, guys! It's about flying again! We talk about types of planes, parts of planes, forces of flight, people flying. So, here are some new words for you (vocabulary) and a vocabulary check exercise to try them! Study them and see you on Tuesday!
The Wright Brothers
Hello, guys! The story of the inventors of the aeroplane is really inspiring. Two hard working children with no university studies managed to make possible the impossible, to fly! Watch the short cartoon video about their life and then answer the quiz. Have fun!
UNIT 4
Hi,guys! One of the biggest dreams of the human beings, if not the biggest, was that of flying! Greek mythology dealt with that through the story of Daedalus adn Icarus, the famous Athenean mechanics who travelled to Crete invited by the Cretan king Minoas to build the Labyrinth. They ended imprisoned by the king after they had finished the big project. The only way to freedom was through flying using their handmade wings (made by themselves with feathers and wax). The tragic end of the story is wellknown. Icarus fell into the sea when he flew close to the sun and the wax melted. He drowned leaving his father in deep sorrow.
The story inspired many artists to create works of art about their story.
Unit 4, lesson 1
But in modern times, the Wright brothers managed to fly on a plane, the first plane, FLYER 1.
Study the words and read the text on page 39 of your pupil's book.
